Jam session with Kurosawa-san :)

It’s been busy for Pali lately and I am sorry for not posting lately.. Well, PALI got to jam with Mr Kurosawa of Gospellers, Japan’s super famous soul, R&B group, along with Keiji Matsumoto, super keyboard player who tour with yet again, many super famous musicians in Japan.

Ukulele Picnic in Hawaii 2010

PALI had a great time at Ukulele picnic in Hawaii 2010 @ Kakaako Water Front Park. They were the final act of the day, played 3 songs.. started off with Kawika, Misirlou featuring Kalei Gamiao, and …the surprise song….”Katte ni shindobaddo” by Southern All Stars with Sekiguchi-san and Hiroshi Matsuda from SAS…!!! Na Hoku O Hawaii Music Festival 2010 Press Conference

Press Conference for Na Hoku O Hawaii Music Festival was held at Hawaii Convention Center today. Pali went on behalf of Ku’uipo Kumukahi today representing HARA. It’s going to be a HUGE event so make sure you participate…May 27-30!!
5/27-30までの4日間に渡って行われることになったナ・ホク・ハノハノ・アワードのフェスティバル企画、
Na Hoku O Hawaii Music Festival。きょう、コンベンションセンターでプレスコンファレンスがありました。
HARAを代表して、風邪でダウン中のプレジデント、クウイポ・クムカヒに代わって、バイスプレジデントのパリがスピーチをしました。他にも、このイベントのイベント制作会社、Four Miles LLC、そしてHTAを代表してバイスプレジデントのDavid Uchiyamaがこの記者会見にかけつけました。

左から、HARAのボードメンバー、ケネス、リア、そしてアーチストのカヴィカ・カヒアポ、真ん中の３名はFour Milesのスタッフ、そしてパリ。

HARAのメンバーもみなさん現役のミュージシャン達が多く、みんなボランティアで、ハワイの音楽を活性化させ、継承し、世界へ広めていこうと日々頑張っているので、みんなのスケジュールがあうのもひと苦労。でも、このイベント、内外のミュージシャンも呼んで、楽器メーカー、HTAのマーケティングパートナーなどが一体となって、ワイキキにbring back the music!!と頑張っています。世界のアーチストが大集合して、ハワイのミュージシャンとコラボったりと色々な企画が練られています。詳細はここでも発表していきますね。今年の5/27-30はハワイにいるっきゃないですよ〜〜！！

We had a small kine party on X’mas day. Thanks Jr for the AWESOME ribs..thanks Ipo, Karen and Pops for stopping by, thanks DJ for the yummy ham..whew we are so full and happy! Happy Holidays!
クリスマスの日はちょっとしたパーティをしました。グループのメンバーは今回はマークしか来れませんでしたが、
ハーブ・オータ・Jr.お手製スペアリブが絶品で衝撃でした〜。カラパナのDJも美味しいハムをもってきてくれて、クウイポ・クムカヒ、カレン＆ポップスなども遊びにきてくださいました。映画をみたりしてひたすらご飯を食べて１日過ごしました。来てくださったみんなどうもありがとう！そしてまだ早いかもしれないけど、よいお年を！

Lavanet X’mas Party

We did a white elephant at our X’mas party at Lavanet office …whomever who scored the most at this game we played..(which was to guess the Xmas carols matching the pictures..it was SO hard, Brad!) Simple but fun party this year Everybody Mele Kalikimaka!!
クリスマスイブの日は、ラヴァネットのオフィスでシンプルなクリスマスパーティをしました。既にクリスマスで本土に帰っていたり、家族とお料理をしたり・・とオフィスにこの日いたのは社員の３分の１くらいでしたが（笑）今年はシンプル＆エコなクリスマスにしようと社員達が提案。ピザをオーダーしようといってたのですが、ヘルシーにサブウェイのサンドイッチに決定。スゴい数！！！

みんなが持ち寄ったクリスマスプレゼント。今年は『ホワイトエレファント』というクリスマスギフトの交換会をしました。（昨年はシークレットサンタでした）これが何かというと、既に誰かからもらったギフトで、でもあけていないもの、これをもう一度ラッピングして持ち寄りましょうというもの。こうすればエコだし、バジェットのきついこの不景気の世の中、グッドアイデアですよね。

Dokoga TVのカメラマン、ラフの奥さんルービーが、『ミドリ』ケーキを焼いてくれました。『ミドリ』というリキュールの入ったケーキなので、ちょっとアルコールが入った感じがします。

そしてラフがミドリソースをケーキにかけます。大丈夫か〜〜。

じゃ〜ん、　looks so yummy…おいしそう〜。

ぺぺもみんなの会話に混じってました・・（笑）。

これが今日、みんなでやったゲーム。この絵をみて、どのクリスマスソングのことか当てて、一番、多く当てられた人が最初に好きなギフトを選ぶ権利がある。というもの。難しかった〜このゲーム！！

パパに甘えるペペ。みんなからもご飯をいっぱいもらって、なんとオフィスにうんちしてました（汗）。（今まで一度もしたことがないのに・・ごめんなさい！）

スタッフはこの３倍くらいいるんですが・・社員のみなさん、いつもご苦労様！You guys make everything possible at [...]

My `ohana so appreciate the well-wishes and kindness during this trying time.

上記のパリのコメントの通り、12/11の朝、パリの父親、トーマス・ウェイン・カアイフエが亡くなりました。64才、糖尿病が原因で闘病生活をここ数年続けていましたが、12/10のパリの母親の誕生日を待って、次の日、少し安心して亡くなったようにもみえました。沢山のお電話やメール、テキストなどを頂きましたが、ありがとうございます。葬儀は来週行われることになり、年内パリもパリ・オハナもちょっとバタバタしておりますが、みなさんのご理解を感謝しております。アロハ・オエ・・トーマス・カアイフエ。
